I hope you all have plans for this week-end that will allow you to get out and enjoy the last week-end of October.  It was warm here all week, and boom today it got cold.  I still need to do the last mow on my lawn, so I think Saturday morning will be a 'work in the yard' day. 

Have fun with the little ghosts and goblins, either taking them out trick-or-treating, or answering your door and seeing all the fun costumes.

It has been more than a month since I posted on this blog.  I think I had blogger block, but hopefully I am feeling better now.  So to celebrate I thought some music might be in order.

Today my Blog is One Year Old!

It does not seem possible that I started this venture one year ago.  I know I have not posted much lately, but I have found that I am possibly a 'winter blogger'.  I find that in the summer months I prefer to be out and about, rather than sitting in front of my computer.  When, at the end of the day, I do finally log on, I read blogs, but I am usually to burned out to post much on my blog.

I thought by now the weather would start to cool off, but we are still having 90+ degree days, and it only gets down in the 70s at night.  So far this summer we have had 84 days of over 90 degree heat.  I am so looking forward to Fall this year. 

In mid October I will be taking a trek to New England, and I plan to stay there until Thanksgiving.  I love New England in the Fall.  My lovely daughter is going to bless me with another grandchild, so it should be a great trip.

Where Were You on 9/11/01

On 9/11/01 I had just traveled from Boston to NC the night before to celebrate the 11th Birthday of my granddaughter that had had a heart/lung transplant on June 15th. I was staying with my daughter, who was living in the house where I now live, and I turned on Good Morning America just in time to hear that a plane had hit the first tower. While I was standing there watching the updates I saw the second plane hit the other tower. About 2 hours later I got a call from my office in Boston telling me at co-worker had been on the second plane. About 6 hours later I was notified that one of my former employees was on the 96th floor of the first tower (he did not survive). I think 2001 was the most emotional year I have ever had with the transplant and the attacks. I remember renting a car to drive back to Boston and how moved I was by the courtesy of all the drivers on the roads and the flags flying on every freeway overpass. There were National Guard at every large bridge. An event in our history that I hope everyone remembers for a lifetime, I know that I will. My oldest son had spent 10 years in the military, and I felt fear that he would be called back, but that did not happen, not sure I could have handled any more stress that year.
