Christmas Cookies

I have had a problem getting into the Christmas spirit this year.  Since I plan to travel right after Christmas, I did not put up a tree or any decorations.  A few days ago my 11 year old granddaughter wanted to make cookies.  So on Sunday afternoon she came to my house and we made and decorated 7 dozen sugar cookies.  It was fun, and managed to give me some much needed Christmas spirit.  I still did not decorate the house or put up a tree, but I have enjoyed eating a few of these little beauties.

I hope you are all ready for Christmas and have a safe and happy holiday with your family and friends.  I am looking forward to dinner on Christmas Day with my sons and their families, and spending next week with my lovely daughter/son-in-law and seeing my two youngest grandchildren. My travels will be dictated by the weather, so I have no firm plans, just going to watch the weather report.  I also hope to spend a few days on Cape Cod where they are currently getting lots of snow.

I Cannot Stop Laughing

If you need a good laugh, just check out this website.

I was laughing so hard that it brought tears to my eyes.  I do not have a phone with auto correct, but based on what I read, I think I might be lucky.  LOL!

I hope everyone is staying warm during this Artic Blast so many of us are suffering through.  It was 18 degrees when I got up this morning and that is very unusual this time of year where I live.  I am freezing!!!!

Are you all ready for Christmas?  I am not, but I am working on it each day.

Now back to whatever you were doing.......

It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman

Earlier this evening two of my grandchildren were outside their home with a neighbor boy and saw something that scared them speechless.  The neighbor boy had his camera with him, so he snapped these two pictures (which my daughter-in-law sent to the local news station).

After checking online my DIL discovered that today (11/17/10) is the day of the Leonids Meteor Shower.  It indicates that it will be at it's peak at 4AM, however these pictures were taken after 4PM.
More research indicated it could have been (and I stress could have been) the Tempel-Tuple Comet, which has only been seen approximately 5 times, the last time was in 1997.

I really have no idea what it was, but it is definitely interesting.  It appeared to be to big to be a meteor, but was it a Comet.....well your guess is as good as mine.

We Do Have Fall Colors in the South

Today I was out running some errands and decided to drive down Main St in my town and look at some of the historic homes.  As I was driving down the street I noticed that all the trees looked so lovely.  I pulled over and took a couple of pictures.  Keep in mind that I use a point and shoot camera on auto, but I still think this will give you an idea about fall in the south.

It was raining when I took these pictures.  When I got home I decided to walk to my mailbox and thought you might like to see what I look at from my front window....so here is my view

My lawn has already turned winter brown, and my mailbox looks so lonely.  Since we are having a rain storm with colder weather on its way, all those leaves will fall to ground very soon and I will be looking at trees like the one in the foreground that lost its leaves about two weeks ago.
