My Monthly Post - Someday I will get back into the groove!!!!

So much has happened this past month.

First, I found a part-time job (that ended up being full-time the first two weeks).  I came home exhausted every night and got soooo far behind on my blog reading.  I am in the process of catching up, but it will take me some time.

Second, I had company for 5 days.  My daughter, son-in-law and my youngest grandchild came to visit from out of state.  The little guy turned '1' on July 5th, so we had a birthday party in my back yard.  It was so much fun to have all three of my children and my four grandchildren all in one place to eat, drink and visit.  No pictures yet, because I lost my cord to download from my camera....hopefully I will locate it soon.

The most distressing news is that I will not be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 60 mile walk on July 23rd.  I had registered with my daughter-in-law and we had to commit to raising a minimum of $2300 dollars each.  About 6 weeks ago we realized that the probability of both of us reaching our goal was pretty slim, so we took all the money we raised in the past 6 weeks (2 car washes, 2 yard sales, and hours of sitting at the local grocery store selling pink ribbon products) and applied it to her fundraising.  She is on her way to Boston and will participate by herself.  I raised about 62% of my goal and that money is already in the hands of the Susan G. Komen foundation.  So thank you to all those that donated money to my fundraising.  We tried so hard, but we live in a pretty rural area, and although everyone was supportive to what we were trying to do, it just did not happen for us.  I am thrilled that my daughter-in-law is able to participate.  She really, really, really wanted to do this in honor of her grandmother that is currently fighting breast cancer.  So during the week-end of July 23, 24 and 25, keep her in your thoughts.  Hopefully she will get some good pictures that I can post when she returns.

The good news is that all that training for the walk has left me in the best health I could possibly hope to achieve.  I am very thankful and hopefully I will continue to walk at least 3 times a week.

Well, that is about all for tonight.  I know there is more, but my brain is so tired from learning a new job, that I am fading fast.  It is still very hot and humid here, with no sign of cooler weather in sight.

What have all of you been up to?

  2. Keli - I'm so sorry you weren't able to participate, and I'm so sorry I was never able to donate. I hope all is well. I'm glad you had a great visit from your daughter and had everyone together.
