What to do with the Toyota Recall

Do you own a Toyota, if so, is it one of the vehicles that they have on the halted production in the U.S. list?
Well, I own one, and I am not a happy consumer.  I spent several months in early 2009 researching what my next vehicle would be.  When all was said and done, Toyota came to the top  of the list because of their safety record, resale value, and standing behind their service.  So I happily went to the local Toyota Dealership a couple of times and test drove a couple different models.  Finally in May I made my decision and purchased my new vehicle.  Don't get me wrong, I love my vehicle, but now I am afraid to drive it!

I spent this morning on the phone with Toyota, and I found out that they still do not know exactly what they are going to do to fix the accelerator problems, and when they will even start those repairs.  So I have a big old decoration sitting in my yard that gives me anxiety every time I think about driving it.  I have read all the advice they have given about what to do if the accelerator sticks, and I have told anyone that might for any reason drive my vehicle, but I am still not convinced it is safe.

This is my 'Black Beauty'

I am hoping for a speedy outcome to the problems with Toyota vehicles, but I am not holding my breath.  Meanwhile I am driving like a 'little old lady', oh wait, I am a 'little old lady', but I hate driving like one!

  1. I love your truck. I would be sad not to be able to drive it either, but "safety first!!". BTW, we have a black dodge ram that we named Black Beauty, too. Great minds . . .

  3. Gorgeous truck! Hubby and I were talking about this last night. We own Dodges only, but we have family that drive Toyotas (one whom purhcased in 09).

Its scary! The problem is if most are like us, you simply have no options but to continue to drive what you got.

Hopefully this all get fixed ASAP and that consumers are able to get the help they need with their purchases.

  4. Your truck is nice! I do not envy your decision. It is a shame that toyota is having so many problems.

  5. My hubby and I both drive late model Toyotas, but we managed to escape this recall. I'm sorry yours was included. I'll bet Toyota will work to make everything right as quickly as possible. It's in their best interest to do so.

Did your page get a new look or have I just been snoozing? I like it! :)

  7. Hey Keli..sorry 'bout your car and the recall. I'm sure it worries you when you drive, but slow is good! I think they should have one lane of the freeway special for just Toyotas until they fix this mess ~ and I hope it's soon!
Take care and hope you have completely recovered from your bug.
